I am a Reiki Master of the Usui Shiki Ryoho system and recently started learning the Pranic healing system. I am new to Pranic healing and currently a Level 1 (there are 4 levels), but I have been incorporating it into my practice. One of the commonly asked questions is: what is the difference between Reiki and Pranic healing? Here is my experience and the feedback from my clients so far.
Pranic healing feels more scientific than Reiki. It follows protocols and uses systematic methods for treatment. Reiki is more intuition based in my opinion. When I am using Pranic healing, I look up the ailment that I’m working on and follow the protocol. With Reiki, I just turn the energy on and let it guide me. Pranic healing also focuses on “cleansing” the energy field first, then energizing it. Reiki sends energy to the body trusting that it goes where it’s most needed. Reiki doesn’t use a “cleansing” process.
Pranic healing doesn’t require an attunement initiation whereas Reiki does. Reiki practitioners have to be initiated by a Reiki Master and “attuned” to be able to channel the energy. Pranic healing does not require this type of initiation, rather, it is learned and expanded through meditation and breathing techniques.
Pranic healing is a no touch system. With Reiki, touch is optional. I perform most of my work long distance, so my clients are not physically touched by me when performing Reiki. However, energetically, I do touch them.
I have had the opportunity to use Pranic healing on several clients that have been receiving Reiki from me for years. I’ve also been doing Pranic healing on myself and have had other practitioners perform it on me. The feedback is similar so far.
My clients feel the energy more intensely when I’m using Pranic healing. One client said it felt aggressive. This could be the way I’m using Pranic healing as a practitioner and since I’m still learning, I don’t want to draw that conclusion yet. The intensity is not a bad thing; it just feels different than Reiki. My personal experience with Pranic healing is that it feels strong. After one session, I felt the energy radiating on my forehead for 4 hours afterward. Reiki seems to be softer and more gentle, but that doesn’t mean it’s less effective. I think both are effective and also very different from one another.
I absolutely love Reiki and always feel amazing after every session I’ve ever had or given. I also love Pranic healing! I am thoroughly enjoying learning all about it and plan to continue to move up the levels to learn more. I think they are both very effective and I find it more of a personal preference. I have found myself using Pranic healing for ailments and complaints and then switching to Reiki for relaxation and stress relief. This combination seems to work well.
If you are curious about either healing technique, try them both! Let me know what YOU think!
All my love!
Susan 🙂
